EDVAMM
What began in 2018 with a simple idea has grown into a regional movement connecting education and industry.
Tri-County STEMersion was launched by the Dorchester County Economic Development Corporation and the South Carolina Department of Commerce to create stronger connections between educators and the workforce shaping our region. From its beginnings with just a dozen educators, the program has grown through the continued collaboration of the economic development offices of Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties.
Along the way, STEMersion adapted through a virtual year during the COVID-19 pandemic, piloted a Student Camp, and continued to expand its reach and impact. In 2023, the Planning Committee grew to include representation from all four local school districts, strengthening the connection between the program, educators, and the classrooms they serve.
Today, STEMersion brings educators directly into the workplaces, industries, and innovations driving the Lowcountry economy. Through immersive experiences and meaningful industry connections, educators gain insight they can take back to their classrooms, which in turn helps students better understand the skills, careers, and opportunities that await them beyond graduation. Through its continued growth and proven impact, Tri-County STEMersion has evolved into a statewide best practice for connecting education and industry.
